Privacy policy
What we collect, why, who sees it, how long we keep it, and how to get a copy or have it deleted.
Last updated 27 Oct 2026
The short version
- We collect what Skipless needs to work: your email, your commitments and check-ins, and the partners you add.
- If you prove a commitment with photos, an AI and sometimes a person at Skipless check them, and each photo is deleted 30 days after its check-in settles.
- We never sell your information and never show ads.
- Partners and circle members see only what you choose to share.
- You can see, correct, download and delete your information yourself, in Settings.
- Questions or complaints: Help in the app.
Who we are
Skipless is run by a sole trader based in Victoria, Australia. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 when we handle personal information: information that identifies you, or could reasonably identify you.
What we collect
Information you give us:
- Account: your email address, the name you sign with, your time zone and currency.
- Commitments: what you commit to, schedules and deadlines, stakes, Skip Messages, your typed signature, notes, plans, reminders, check-ins and appeals.
- Your mobile number, if you add one for reminder texts.
- Notifications, if you turn them on: for each device, the address its push service (Apple, Google, Mozilla or Microsoft) gives Skipless, the keys that encrypt each notification, the kind of device (like “iPhone”), when you turned them on, which kinds you switched off, and whether the last one arrived.
- Partners: the name and mobile number or email of each partner you add, and their replies, such as YES or STOP.
- Circles: the circles you join and the commitments you share in them. In a plan and recap circle, also your daily plan (the lines you write and tick off), your recap, when you posted each, your replies under other members’ days, and nudges and cheers between members. In a community space, the spaces you join or start, and the line about a circle you started there.
- Your profile photo, if you add one: a small square copy, with everything the camera recorded about it (when, on what device, where) removed before it’s kept. Your partners and the people in your circles see it. You can change or remove it any time in Settings, Profile.
- YouTube, if you connect a channel: the link you paste, your channel’s ID, name, handle and picture, and for videos that go public while a YouTube commitment runs (or shortly before you sign one, since those can count toward its first deadline), each video’s ID, title, length, whether it was a livestream, and when it went public. Only what anyone can see on YouTube: never private videos, comments or analytics, and you never sign in to Google. See YouTube below.
- Proof photos and screenshots, if you use Photo or screenshot: each photo you take in the app and send, and each screenshot or saved photo you send (where your commitment allows them), a note for the reviewer if you write one, two fingerprints of each photo (so the same photo can’t be used twice), when our server received it, the AI’s verdict and reason, and a reviewer’s decision. When you write what your photos must show and press Help me word it, those words go to the AI too. See Proof photos below.
- Help messages: what you write, any screenshots or files you attach, and technical details that help us fix problems (the page, your browser, time zone, currency, country and app version).
Information we collect automatically:
- Your country: our host tells us which country you’re visiting from, based on your IP address. We use it to pick your starting currency, and add it to problem reports you send.
- Activity records: a log of actions in your account (such as signing, checking in and appealing), the messages we send, which upcoming features you tap, and which page of our website you started a commitment from. They keep commitments fair and help us decide what to build next.
- Technical logs: like most websites, our hosting providers record IP addresses, browser details and errors, for security and troubleshooting.
- Invites: if you join through someone’s invite link, we record who invited you, and they see that you joined.
When card payments start, Stripe collects your card details directly. We never see or store your full card number. We keep a record of each charge, and may show the card’s brand and last four digits.
We don’t collect precise location or health data. Proof methods that use them are planned. We’ll update this policy and ask for your permission before any of them start.
How we use it
- to run your commitments: deadlines, check-ins, misses, appeals and, once card payments start, charges
- to check the proof photos you send, with an AI and, when it isn’t sure, a person
- to send the reminders, alerts and messages you set up, to you and your partners
- to keep accounts secure and to prevent abuse and cheating
- to answer help messages and fix problems
- to understand which features people use and ask for, so we know what to build next
- to meet legal obligations, such as keeping payment and tax records
We don’t use your information for advertising, and we don’t send marketing emails or texts. If that ever changes, we’ll ask you first, and every message will have an unsubscribe.
Decisions made automatically
Some decisions about your commitments are made by our software, using your check-ins, deadlines and time zone:
- whether a check-in was on time, and whether it counts as kept or missed
- when a miss stands after the dispute window, and, once card payments start, charging its stake
- accepting appeals on commitments set to Trust me
- for YouTube publish, whether a video on your connected channel counts: public, long enough, and public before the deadline
- for Photo or screenshot, whether a photo or screenshot shows what your contract says: an AI can approve it when it’s confident. The AI never rejects one or fails you: anything it isn’t sure about, a person decides
- for Photo or screenshot, refusing a picture that’s exactly the same as one you already sent, a screenshot or saved photo on a commitment that takes live photos only, and anything sent outside its photo window or after the deadline
A person decides appeals on Check me commitments (and Check me, with proof), reviews a YouTube check-in when a counted video stops being public or YouTube couldn’t be checked, and checks every photo the AI isn’t sure about. If you think an automatic decision is wrong, appeal or contact us at Help in the app, and a person will look at it.
YouTube
Skipless uses YouTube API Services to check YouTube publish commitments. What YouTube and Google do with your information is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Connecting a channel is your choice: you paste its public link, and Skipless looks it up on YouTube. You never sign in to Google, and Skipless can’t see or change anything private.
After that, Skipless checks your channel’s public uploads, more often as a deadline gets close. We use what we find only to decide your YouTube check-ins, show you what counted and tell you about it. We never post, comment or change anything on YouTube, and never use YouTube data for advertising. You, and a reviewer at Skipless when a check-in needs a person, see the videos. Partners see your channel’s name and picture and whether you kept a check-in; circles see only whether you kept it.
Video titles, links and lengths are deleted 30 days after each video went public; the verdict stays. Channel details are refreshed from YouTube at least every 7 days. Disconnect a channel in Settings, under YouTube, and we delete what we hold about it straight away (your record of kept and missed check-ins stays). This doesn’t change anything on YouTube itself.
Proof photos
Photo or screenshot uses your camera only while it’s open on screen, and only after you allow it. Only the photo or screenshot you press Send on leaves your device. Choosing a screenshot opens your device’s own picker: Skipless sees only the one picture you choose.
Each photo or screenshot goes to Anthropic, the AI provider that checks it, with what your contract says it must show, the code (if your commitment asks for one), whether it was taken live or chosen from your device, and the check-in’s date. Never your name, email or account details, and never your note for the reviewer. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, what we send isn’t used to train its models, and Anthropic deletes it after a short time.
If a photo or screenshot carries details from the camera or device (when it was taken, on what device, or where), we read only the time and the device, to check it’s from the right check-in, then remove all of them, location included, before it’s kept. Photos taken in the app usually carry none.
Screenshots often show other people’s names, messages or email addresses. Please cover them before you send one. The AI is told never to repeat them, and a reviewer sees them only when the AI wasn’t sure.
Photos and screenshots are kept privately in our storage in Sydney, with no public link. You can see your own on the commitment’s page. A reviewer at Skipless sees one only when the AI wasn’t sure about it, through a link that works for a few minutes. Partners and circle members never see your photos.
Each photo or screenshot is deleted 30 days after the check-in it’s for settles: when it’s kept, or when a miss stands or is excused. We keep its fingerprints, the verdict and the reasons as part of your record, so the same photo can’t be used again and a decision can be checked later. Deleting your account deletes your photos straight away, and Download your information includes your proof records.
If someone added you as a partner
Someone you know gave us your name and mobile number or email so you can follow how they’re going. We send you an invite first. You get alerts only if you accept, and every message tells you how to stop: reply STOP to a text, or use the link in an email.
We use your details only for partner messages from that person, and never for marketing. When they remove you as a partner, we delete your number or email straight away.
The link in those messages shows their commitments this week, lets you confirm check-ins they asked you to confirm, and lets you send them a nudge, without an account. To see their full record, you can make a free Skipless account with the email they invited, using a one-time code we send to it. Then everyone who added that email shows up in your account, and their links open inside Skipless. They see the nudges you send, never your account. Making your own commitments is up to you.
Nudges you write go to that person by email and in the app. Ready-made lines are only a start: what you send is yours. A treat you promise in a nudge is between the two of you; Skipless never handles money or rewards between people.
To ask about your information, contact us at Help in the app.
How we protect it
Everything travels over encrypted connections. Database rules mean each person can read only their own information, and only our server code can change it. There are no passwords to steal: you log in with one-time codes or links sent to your email. Proof photos and files attached to help messages are stored privately and opened only through links that expire.
You stay logged in on each device until you log out there. If you lose a phone or used a shared computer, Settings, under Account, has Log out everywhere, which ends every log-in: other devices can’t change or download anything from that moment, and are logged out completely within an hour. When you add Skipless to an iPhone home screen, a one-time link that works for an hour carries your log-in into the app, so you don’t log in again. We record when each one is used.
If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we’ll tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as soon as we can.
How long we keep it
- Your account, commitments and help messages: while your account is open.
- A partner’s number or email: until you remove that partner, or delete your account.
- A device’s notification address and keys: until you turn notifications off on it or remove it in Settings, its push service tells us it no longer works, or you delete your account.
- YouTube video titles, links and lengths: 30 days after each video went public. Channel details: until you disconnect the channel or delete your account.
- Proof photos: 30 days after the check-in they’re for settles. Their fingerprints, verdicts and reasons: while your account is open.
- Your profile photo: until you change or remove it, or delete your account.
- Plans, recaps and replies in plan and recap circles: 90 days after their day. Leaving a circle hides your posts there from the other members straight away.
- Payment records, once card payments start: 5 years after each charge, because Australian tax law requires it.
When you delete your account, we delete your information straight away. We keep only a note that the account was deleted and, once card payments start, the payment records the law requires. Copies in backups are deleted as the backups expire.
Your choices and rights
- See and correct it. Most of your information is in the app. Change your name, time zone, currency, mobile and partners in Settings.
- Get a copy. In Settings, under Legal and privacy, press Download for a file with everything we hold about you.
- Delete it. At the bottom of Settings, under Account, press Delete account. You can also ask us at Help in the app.
- Stop messages. Turn reminders off on any commitment’s page, reply STOP to any text, and turn notifications off (or choose which kinds come) in Settings, under Messages to you, or in your device’s settings. Partners can stop at any time.
- Use a nickname. Your display name doesn’t have to be your full name.
We reply to privacy requests within 30 days, and may need to check it’s really you first.
Questions and complaints
Contact us at Help in the app. We’ll reply within 30 days. If you’re not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Children
Skipless is for people aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has an account, tell us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this policy before we collect new kinds of information or use it in new ways, and email you about important changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
