Terms of use
The agreement between you and Skipless: how commitments, check-ins, stakes and appeals work, and what each of us promises.
Last updated 27 Oct 2026
About these terms
These terms are the agreement between you and Skipless. Skipless is run by a sole trader based in Victoria, Australia. In these terms, “we” and “us” means Skipless, and “you” means the person using it.
You agree to these terms when you create an account, and again each time you sign a commitment. Our Privacy policy and Charges and refunds policy are part of them.
Skipless is in beta. Some features are still being built and may change. Where these terms talk about card payments or paid plans, that part applies once they start. Until then, misses are recorded but nobody is charged.
Who can use Skipless
- You must be 18 or older.
- One account per person, for yourself. Don’t make commitments for someone else.
- Keep your email account secure. Anyone who can open your email can open the log-in links we send.
- Give us accurate details and keep them up to date in Settings.
How commitments work
A commitment is a promise you make to yourself, with a schedule, a deadline, a way to prove it, and something on the line: money, a Skip Message to your partners, or both.
When you sign, the contract on the Sign step becomes the record of what you agreed. Its terms are locked from then on: you can’t change the stake, the Skip Message, the appeal level, how it’s proven or where missed stakes go on a signed commitment.
You can change a commitment’s name, description, days, check-in time and end date. New days and times start after every check-in that has already started, and never before the next day, so a change can’t move a deadline that’s already running. The end date can’t be moved before a check-in that has started. You choose whether partners who get your miss alerts are told about new days and times. Either way, your commitment’s page lists every change.
You can end a commitment at any time. Ending takes effect after the current check-in, so ending can’t be used to dodge a deadline that’s already running.
Things outside the contract, such as reminders and your “When will you do it?” plan, can change at any time.
Check-ins and misses
Check in before each deadline. Deadlines follow the time zone in your Settings, and our server’s clock decides whether a check-in was on time, not your device’s clock.
If you haven’t checked in by the deadline, or you answer that you didn’t do it, that check-in is a miss.
If you chose a partner to confirm your check-ins, each check-in waits for their answer. If they don’t answer within 24 hours of the deadline, your check-in counts. If they say you didn’t do it, the dispute window starts again so you can appeal.
Check-ins are on your honour unless a partner confirms them, Skipless checks them automatically, or you prove them with a photo. Checking in for something you didn’t do breaks these terms.
With YouTube publish there’s nothing to check in: Skipless checks the channel you connected and counts each video toward the first deadline after it goes public, going by the time YouTube records. Your first deadline also counts videos from before you signed, back to where the deadline before it would have been. If Skipless can’t reach YouTube after a deadline, a person checks your channel instead, so an outage never counts as a miss. If a counted video stops being public within 7 days, a person reviews that check-in. If they decide it doesn’t count, it’s a miss, and the dispute window starts again so you can appeal.
Proof photos and screenshots (Photo or screenshot)
With Photo or screenshot, you prove each check-in with a picture sent through Prove it in the Skipless app. Your contract says which kind counts: live photos only (taken in the app’s camera; saved photos, uploads and screenshots aren’t accepted), or screenshots and saved photos too (a live photo, or a screenshot or saved photo from your phone or computer).
What counts is what your contract says the picture must show, word for word. If your commitment has a photo window, only what’s sent inside it counts, by our server’s clock. If it asks for a code (live photos only), the photo must clearly show the two-word code the camera gives you, written on paper or on another screen. A picture has to be sent within 10 minutes of pressing Prove it, and before the deadline.
Screenshots are easier to fake than live photos, so they’re checked for dates: a screenshot whose own date, or a date shown in it, is before the check-in opened goes to a person. Cover other people’s names, messages and contact details before you send a screenshot.
An AI checks each photo against what your contract says. It can approve a photo it’s confident about. It never rejects one: anything it isn’t sure about goes to a person at Skipless, who decides (usually within a day) and tells you why. Nothing is charged while a photo waits, and waiting never breaks your streak. If a person doesn’t accept a photo, you can send another before the deadline, or appeal the miss as usual.
Each photo or screenshot can be used once. One that’s exactly the same as one you already sent is refused straight away.
Photos only prove what they show: a photo of a gym isn’t a workout. A photo of a screen or of a printed photo counts only when what you committed to is on a screen. You can change what your photos must show; the change applies from the next check-in, never the one that’s open.
Keep other people out of your photos and screenshots where you can, and never photograph someone who hasn’t agreed to it. Don’t send anything sexual, violent or unlawful. Sending an old photo or screenshot, someone else’s, a photo of a photo or an edited one to get a check-in counted breaks these terms. We can refuse such a picture and close an account that sends them.
Stakes and charges
If a commitment has money on the line, you agree that we charge the stake for each miss that stands, in the amount and currency fixed when you signed.
A miss stands when the 24-hour dispute window after the deadline closes without an accepted appeal. Commitments signed before 10 October 2026 keep the 48-hour window they were signed with. Nothing is charged while an appeal, a partner’s answer or a review is waiting.
Skipless keeps missed stakes. A stake is a fee you agree to pay if you miss, not a deposit or a bet: we don’t take money up front, and we never pay stakes out to partners or anyone else.
Card payments are handled by Stripe. When card payments start, you’ll save a card and authorise these charges before you sign a commitment with money on the line. If a charge fails, we’ll tell you and try again.
Only stake what you can afford to lose. If a stake is causing you hardship, contact us at Help in the app and we’ll help, including ending a commitment without charging you.
A commitment with no money on the line is never charged.
Appeals and our mistakes
Each commitment has an appeal level, chosen when you sign: Trust me (every appeal is accepted automatically), Check me (a person at Skipless reads your reason and decides) or No excuses (no appeals). Commitments signed before 13 October 2026 keep the rules they were signed with: Lenient works like Trust me, Balanced like Check me and Ruthless like No excuses, and Firm (shown as Check me, with proof) means a person decides and you need proof you did it, or proof you couldn’t.
Appeal from the commitment’s page during the dispute window.
You never pay for our mistakes. Whatever the appeal level, if a miss happened because Skipless was down, a check-in or link didn’t work, or our system got something wrong, tell us and we won’t charge it, or we’ll refund it in full. See Charges and refunds.
Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank. Most problems are quicker to fix directly.
If you connect a YouTube channel
You connect a channel by pasting its public link. Connect only channels you own or run. Your partners can see which channel a commitment checks.
Skipless uses YouTube API Services to read public details of your channel and videos. By connecting a channel, you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Our Privacy policy explains what we read and keep.
Connecting someone else’s channel, publishing a video only to take it down again, or uploading someone else’s video, to get a check-in counted, breaks these terms.
Partners and circles
Only add a partner who knows you and is happy to hear from Skipless about your commitments, and give us their correct mobile or email.
Partners get alerts only after they accept the invite, and every message lets them stop at any time. Partners never pay anything and never receive money through Skipless.
Skip Messages are your words, sent to your partners under the Skipless name. Keep them about yourself. Don’t write anything abusive, threatening, discriminatory, sexual or unlawful. We can block or remove any message that breaks this.
In circles, other members see your streaks, statuses and the names of the commitments you share there. They never see your stakes, notes or contact details.
In a plan and recap circle, members also see what you post for each day (your plan, what you ticked off and your recap) and can reply under it; you can reply under theirs. Replies, plans and recaps are words only: Skipless refuses links, email addresses and phone numbers in them. Keep them about the work. Don’t write anything abusive, threatening, discriminatory, sexual or unlawful, and don’t post anyone else’s personal details. The person who started a circle can remove any reply or member; anyone can report a reply to us, and we can remove any reply that breaks this. A circle takes up to 12 people.
A community space is a link someone shares with their community. Anyone who opens the link and joins the space sees the circles in it: each circle’s name, the line its starter wrote about it, how many people are in it, a rough part of the world, how busy it was this week, who started it and members’ first names and initials (never photos). They can join a circle with room without an invite link. Spaces are never public or searchable. Only start a space for a group you run or have permission to organise.
Plans and subscriptions
Skipless is free during the beta. When paid plans start, prices show in your currency before you pay, and include GST for Australian customers.
Monthly and Yearly plans renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and your plan keeps working until the end of the period you paid for. Lifetime is a one-off payment for as long as we run Skipless.
We’ll tell you at least 30 days before a price change applies to your plan. Refunds for plans are covered in Charges and refunds.
Plan payments are separate from stakes. A plan never changes what a miss costs.
Using Skipless fairly
Please don’t:
- use Skipless to harass, embarrass or pressure anyone, including through partner invites or Skip Messages
- make commitments that involve hurting yourself or anyone else, breaking the law, or betting with other people
- try to get into other people’s accounts, test our security without permission, or overload the site
- copy the site or collect data from it with bots or scripts
We can pause or close an account that breaks these terms. Unless it would cause harm or break the law, we’ll tell you why first and give you a chance to fix it.
Your health and wellbeing
Skipless helps you follow through on things you’ve decided to do. It isn’t medical, financial or professional advice. Choose commitments that are safe for you, and check with a professional before starting anything that could affect your health.
If a commitment becomes unsafe for you, for example after an injury or illness, contact us at Help in the app. We won’t charge a stake when keeping the commitment would have put your health at risk.
Our service
We work to keep Skipless running and your data safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change, add or remove features. A change never makes a commitment you’ve already signed stricter or more expensive.
If we ever close Skipless, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice and stop all charges.
Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
Our services come with guarantees that can’t be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms takes away those rights, or any other rights the law gives you that can’t be excluded.
Apart from those rights, and as far as the law allows, we’re not responsible for indirect losses such as lost income or opportunities, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before your claim.
Closing your account
You can delete your account at any time at the bottom of Settings, under Account, unless a miss, an appeal, a partner’s answer or a photo check is still waiting: that settles first. Deleting ends all your commitments, including any check-in that’s running, and can’t be undone.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Skipless grows. For changes that matter, we’ll email you at least 14 days before they apply. Each commitment records the version of the terms it was signed under, and keeps the money rules it was signed with.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. If something goes wrong, contact us first and we’ll try to sort it out. If we can’t, the courts of Victoria can decide it, unless the law gives you the right to use the courts where you live.
